About TFSU
Tianjin is one of China's four direct-controlled municipalities, a national central city, a mega city, one of the first coastal open cities, an international consumption center, and a regional trade center. It is a national advanced manufacturing R&D base, the core area of northern international shipping, a financial innovation and operation demonstration zone, and a pioneering area for reform and opening- up. Tianjin is only around 30 minutes away from Beijing by high-speed train.
Tianjin Foreign Studies University, established in 1964, is one of China's eight prestigious institutions for higher education in foreign languages. TFSU is an institution of higher learning, with the discipline of Foreign Language & Literature taking the lead and Humanities, Economics, Administration & Management, Law, Education, Art, and Engineering balancing the overall disciplinary structure. The university now has two campuses occupying a total area of 470,000㎡. The three Wudadao campuses are located in the historical and architectural tourism area in Tianjin. The Binhai Campus is located in the picturesque university garden of Dagang District, Tianjin Binhai New Area (TBNA).
The university has established friendly cooperation with over 330 universities and educational institutions in more than 50 countries worldwide. The university is a designated institution for recipients of the Chinese Government Scholarship, International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, Tianjin Municipal Government Scholarship for Foreign Students, as well as various specialized scholarship programs, including the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship- Master Program in Translation for International Students, the Sino-foreign University Language Partner Program, and the Sino- Indonesian Joint Training Program for Major of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Additionally, the university offers scholarship for international students studying at Tianjin Foreign Studies University. The university collaborates with other institutions like Tianjin Vocational University to jointly conduct programs for "Chinese Language + Vocational Skills" for international students. Every year, the university hosts over 2,000 long and short- term international students from more than 60 countries, pursuing undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees, or participating in short-term training programs.
Eligibility
1.Applicants must be under 40 years of age, non-Chinese citizens, and meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education Document No. 12 [2020].
2.Applicants should have good conduct, be in sound health, and comply with Chinese laws and regulations as well as the rules and regulations of Tianjin Foreign Studies University.
3.Applicants for a master's degree program should hold a bachelor's degree from China or an equivalent degree.
4.For Chinese-taught programs, applicants must have an HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) Level 5 score of 180 or above. For English-taught programs, applicants must have an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, a TOEFL score of 80 or above, or an equivalent level of English proficiency.

Application Procedure
1.Log in to the "Tianjin Foreign Studies University International Student Service Platform" (http://tfsu.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx) to complete the information submission.
2.The International Admission Office will review the application materials.
3.After the materials are reviewed and approved, the office will organize the relevant college to conduct written tests and interviews for the applicants.
4.Upon passing the interview, the International Admission Office will notify the applicants to pay the fees.
5.After the payment is completed, the International Admission Office will issue the admission notice and visa application form for the applicants.
6.The applicants should then apply for a Chinese visa at the Chinese embassy in their home country with the admission notice and visa application form.
Application Materials
A. The highest academic degree (certificate) or proof of degree. If the applicant is a current graduate student, a pre-graduation certificate issued by the school is required.
B. Complete academic transcripts from the highest degree program.
C. Two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors.
D. For Chinese-taught programs, an HSK Level 5 score of 180 or above is required (valid within 2 years). For English-taught programs, an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, a TOEFL score of 80 or above, or an equivalent English proficiency certificate is required.
E. Physical examination record for foreigners(please refer to Attachment 1 for details).
F. The front page of a valid passport (valid until after December 1, 2025).
G. A criminal record clearance certificate.
H. A bank statement showing a deposit of more than 40,000 RMB from the applicant or their financial guarantor.
Note: All the application materials should be in Chinese or English. If the certificates (proof) are not in Chinese or English, a notarized translation in Chinese or English must be attached.
Registration
New students should register on time according to the specified date on the admission notice. Those who fail to register on time without a valid reason will be treated as having withdrawn automatically.
When registering, please bring the admission notice, the Application Form for Visa of Foreigner Coming to China for Study (JW201/202 form), and the original application materials (including the original degree certificate and complete academic transcripts). If a physical examination has been conducted in the home country, please bring the original physical examination materials.
Fees (in RMB)
Registration: 500 RMB
Tuition: 19,400 RMB/year (Tuition does not include textbook fees)
Insurance: 800 RMB/year
Accommodation: 50 RMB/day for a double room . Students must stay in on-campus housing during their studies.
